Aaron Gibson, who appeared in the bottom two during the Top 12 elimination round on “The Voice” last week, came back with greater force on Nov. 21.

After he was saved by America’s votes, the Team Miley contender said he wanted to bring something new to the table. So, he chose to croon Johnny Cash’s haunting version of “Hurt,” penned by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor.

“I want you to go in there knowing that this is a win,” Miley Cyrus told Aaron in rehearsals, “This show is not always about who can hit the highest note. It’s about who feels the most.”

When Aaron appeared onstage, he immediately gave us chills. He donned a suit similar to the “Man in Black” and sat on a stool with a guitar strapped around his neck. He leaned into the microphone and flaunted his raspy growl and gravel voice. By the second chorus, Aaron let out a powerful scream that had the audience and judges floored.

Following Aaron’s rendition, coach Adam Levine commented, “That is the coolest song. I remember when it came out just being a Nine Inch Nails fan and a Johnny Cash fan was the coolest thing. Also, bravo to your coach because it was the perfect song for you to do and it’s not always the happiest thing in the world being a human being, and I think that experience deserves to be represented.”

“I don’t think you could’ve given anything else to that performance,” added coach Miley. “To me, that was a perfect performance and probably the strongest performance of the night, because I think what you did right there represented who you are.”

We think so too, Miley! Watch Aaron’s beautiful performance above, and tell us what you think!
