When it comes to Santa Claus’ naughty and nice lists, we’re pretty sure we know which one Scotty McCreery’s name would be on. While we know this good-natured country boy from North Carolina has an easy funny bone and loves a good joke, we also know his heart is pure gold and his place on the nice list seems locked in for life.

However, his favor with his sweet mother may have taken a ding after he shared his true feelings on Mom’s healthy home cooking with jolly old Saint Nick.

Santa Claus, also known as Matty Jeff to listeners of Albany, N.Y., radio station  WGNA (107.3), sat down with the “Five More Minutes” singer recently, and it was pretty obvious what was on the bearded one’s mind—what was going in his stomach on his Christmas Eve tour.

At first, the prospects of a plateful of homemade goodies seemed dismal. Scotty explained, “My mom, she’s into all those nice, healthy superfoods. Kale and all of that stuff. It’s ridiculous.” Just after Santa said, “I don’t need any of that,” Scotty went on to say, “Christmas, she always will make some cinnamon rolls for us in the morning.” After Santa pointed out that he had never received any of said cinnamon rolls, Scotty promised to look into the oversight.

Apparently, Mrs. McCreery also makes some pretty tasty haystacks with pretzels, nuts and butterscotch that Santa is hoping for, too.

It’s fun hearing Kris Kringle and Scotty reconnect over favorite gifts from the past and favorite memories of the country star’s late grandfather seeing him receive his first guitar, but what might be even more exciting is the belated Christmas gift that Scotty is planning for his fans.

“It’s looking like springtime we’ll have some new music in the sleigh, and then we’ll have a whole new album out for y’all,” he said.

Sure enough, Scotty shared the big news with Rare Country earlier that his new album, “Seasons Change,” will drop in March of 2018 and, of course, his current single and the song that has kept fans super-charged, “Five More Minutes,” will be part of the track listing.

This will be his first album in five years and marks the growth from a 19-year-old boy to a 24-year-old man. As significant as that is, and as much as we can’t WAIT to get our ears on this project, another thing we — and we imagine Scotty and fiancée Gabi Dugal — can’t wait for is the wedding day of this special couple. While no details have been shared yet, we’re expecting them to exchange their “I dos” in the new year.
