Fresh off her stunning tribute to her hero Dolly Parton at “The 50th Annual CMA Awards,” Reba McEntire flew to Oklahoma to honor the woman who gave her life, her mama.
Jackie McEntire celebrated her 90th birthday this weekend with her family gathered all around her. Reba posted an adorable photograph on Instagram from the festivities with the caption, “Happy 90th birthday to the woman who taught me to sing. I still love singing with her today. Happy birthday Mama!! I love you gobs and gobs!”
Reba’s mom even got a shout out during the CMA Awards broadcast. Vintage footage of Reba accepting the 1984 Female Vocalist trophy was included at the top of the show with Reba telling the crowd, “This is for me and mama.”
Jackie is the woman who taught Reba and her siblings to harmonize as they traveled on the rodeo circuit. Reba’s dad, Clark, was a rodeo champion, so Jackie used music as a way to keep the kids occupied on those long trips.
You can see Reba’s close relationship with her mom on display in her recent video for “Just Like Them Horses,” which was shot on the McEntire ranch in Oklahoma.
