There are moments that stick in the collective memories of NASCAR fans, no matter how many years go by. From Richard Petty’s 200th win to Dale Earnhardt’s tragic death, it’s almost as if you can remember exactly what you were doing at the precise moment when you heard the news.
And some of those moments hurt more than most.
One of those was the untimely death of Davey Allison, who passed away tragically in a helicopter accident back in 1993 when he was just 32 years old. The son of the legendary Bobby Allison, Davey was a NASCAR favorite who earned himself 19 wins in his shortened career.
His wife Liz headed to her socials on the anniversary of his death on July 13 to share her thoughts on the painful day. “This is how I will always remember Davey,” she wrote alongside a picture of Davey in the victory lane holding his babies. “Doing what he loved with the two that he loved more than anything.”
Many members of the NASCAR family, including son Robbie, also expressed their memories and condolences surrounding Davey’s death on July 13.
While many years have gone by, we realize the pain can still be just as stinging. We send our prayers.
