There comes a time in every parent’s life when they have to let go of their child.

That time came for Martina McBride this week.

The country music superstar and her 19-year-old daughter Emma said their goodbyes at the airport on September 6, before the teenager boarded an airplane to California to chase her dream of becoming an actress.

An emotional, yet supportive Martina shared the news of her middle daughter’s courageous move on Instagram.

There were a lot of tears in our family today. Emma moved to LA to embark upon her acting career. It didn't hit me until after I got back home from the airport that she isn't just going on a visit….but moving out of our house…maybe for good. Of course she knows she can always come back. But in a way…a very bittersweet way….I almost hope she doesn't. Because today is the day we all have been talking about…and she has been dreaming about…for years. She's wanted to be a film and TV actress for as long as I can remember. She set her sights on it and dreamed big. And I have no doubt she will give it everything she has. And the world will fall in love with her. Because she has that kind of magic. And that kind of heart. Emma I have so much more I could say here…but I've said it to you in private. You know I believe in you and I'm so proud of you my brave, sweet girl. I love you.

“There were a lot of tears in our family today,” Martina wrote. “Emma moved to L.A. to embark upon her acting career. It didn’t hit me until after I got back home from the airport that she isn’t just going on a visit, but moving out of our house … maybe for good.”

Martina, who is a mother of three daughters, then went on to say that although Emma won’t be around as often as she’d like, the moment was bittersweet, because she knows her baby girl has been planning the venture for years.

“She’s wanted to be a film and TV actress for as long as I can remember,” Martina captioned. “I have no doubt she will give it everything she has. And the world will fall in love with her. Because she has that kind of magic, and that kind of heart.”

“Emma I have so much more I could say here … but I’ve said it to you in private. You know I believe in you and I’m so proud of you my brave, sweet girl. I love you,” Martina concluded.

Fans got a taste of Emma’s acting skills back in 2011 when she appeared in her mama’s music video for the song, “Teenage Daughters.” You can check out the music video above.

We wish Emma all the best in her endeavors, and hope to see her on the big screen before long.
