Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott is finally revealing the personal heartbreak that inspired her to write and record her song, “Thy Will.”

The lyrics deal with putting your life in the hands of God following a personal tragedy, and Hillary says that tragedy in her life was a miscarriage.

During an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Hillary says she went through the miscarriage last fall. She now wants to bring that topic into the open for others going through the same thing.

Says Hillary, “I also feel like there’s this pressure that you’re just supposed to be able to snap your fingers and continue to walk through life like it never happened.”

Hillary and her husband, Chris Tyrrell, are parents to 2-year-old daughter, Eisele Kaye. Experiencing the pain of a miscarriage left Hillary at a truly “raw place” that has given her a new perspective on being a mom to her daughter.

Hillary adds, “I’m a different mom to her now… I hug her a lot tighter.”

“Thy Will” is the lead single from Hillary’s new faith-based album with her family, “Love Remains,” due out July 29. That project features a mix of hymns Hillary grew up singing with her family, as well as new inspirational songs she either wrote or found among the songwriters of Nashville.

The process of recording this new album started after Hillary’s grandfather passed away in 2011.

Hillary says in a press release, “We’ve had this intense concentrated amount of time as a family together, which has been so special. With all that we’ve gone through together, the highs, the lows – to be able to process all of that together, to heal together, to grieve together, to laugh, to cry, all of those things… it’s just been such a continuation of solidifying the strong foundation that we have in our family.”

Now that she’s got the album with her family ready to go, Hillary is back in the studio focused on recording new music with Lady Antebellum.

She says, “I’m coming back into the mindset of Lady Antebellum… I’m very grateful.”
