There is no word as ugly than cancer. When one hears it, hearts instinctively skip a beat. No one likes it. No one wants it, and certainly no one wants to see a dear family member go through it. But once it’s gone, many can see that their cancer journey taught them more than they could have ever imagined.

It was 2012 when the word “cancer” entered the vocabulary of “Chrisley Knows Best” star Julie Chrisley and her family, when the now reality TV personality was just 39 years old. She ended up having a double mastectomy, and recently told talk show host Steve Harvey about an amazing milestone she has reached on her cancer journey.

“Last month you told fans you were officially in remission and you were breast cancer free,” Steve said in the new interview. “That’s a blessing right there.”

“Five years now, so now I feel like I can breathe a little bit,” Julie said, with her family by her side. “You kinda wait until you get to that mark and that’s kind of the benchmark. To make it five years without a recurrence then — not that it can’t happen — but the chances are very slim. So yeah, I am grateful.”

And so are we, Julie.
