It was a heartbreaking end to a beautiful story, but Jana Kramer ended her run on “Dancing With the Stars” during the finals held on Nov. 21, and her professional partner, Gleb Savchenko, is feeling responsible for what he feels is their premature elimination.
Unfortunately, Gleb fell ill with a nasty flu bug early in the couple’s rehearsal process last week and while the two dances they performed during the finals were already choreographed, he was unable to rehearse, forcing Jana to go through the routines with Gleb’s occasional fill-in, Alan Bersten. Jana’s handsome dance partner rallied for the actual competition night. But, unfortunately, their routines had a couple of very minor glitches, likely from their inability to practice together, and it took them out of the running for the mirrorball trophy.
Although teary-eyed, Jana flashed her dazzling smile after their elimination as she thanked the judges. Meanwhile, Gleb’s disappointment was much more apparent.
During a post-show interview with “Access Hollywood,” he admitted that he felt guilty. “A little bit,” he said, but then he added, “I am so proud of her, she’s come so far every week and killing it. Not a dancer, not an athlete, but doing a great job.” He then turned his attention to Jana and said, “You went with everything I wanted to create and you were like, ‘OK, Let’s try and do it.’ You’re the best.”
For Jana, winning the mirrorball trophy wasn’t exactly the goal. “All that we didn’t get was the mirrorball and honestly, I just wanted was this, I just wanted the finals, I wanted our story, I wanted to reach people out there and I feel like we did that,” she said.
Next up, Jana is planning on spending a lot of time with her baby girl, Jolie, and having a yummy Thanksgiving dinner with her family. And Gleb? He wants another try at that freestyle routine.
