Country music superstar Garth Brooks celebrated his famous wife Trisha Yearwood’s birthday with one very messy tradition.

The “Two Pina Coladas” singer marked his “Queen’s” special day with a delicious pie in the face.

He even posted a picture from the hilarious moment on his Instagram page.

As you can see in the shot above, Trisha, who turned 53 years old on Sept. 19, was in good spirits, despite having a dessert-covered face. As for Garth, he looked like he had an absolute blast while posing alongside his beautiful wife and tour mate.

“If you don’t get pied its like you’re not family,” Garth explained of the photo and tour tradition during his weekly “Inside Studio G” Facebook Live on Sept. 25. “So, as much as you might be dreading it or whatever, it is going to happen.

“This guy is just happy it wasn’t him!” he then quipped, as he pointed himself out in the shot.

Turns out that the big pie surprise took place backstage after one of the couple’s sold-out shows in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Garth also shared a shot of his tour opener, songwriter Mitch Rossell, with a pie too, as it was also his birthday week.

“Greatest birthday weekend of my life, and I got to share it with some amazing friends. Thanks @garthbrooks @trishayearwood,” Mitch wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of his own pie in the face.

Trisha’s birthday, of course, wasn’t just chock-full of sugary treats. She also got to enjoy an even bigger moment. As Rare Country previously reported, Garth gifted his bride with a surprise trip to Louisville, Kentucky, to catch Bruno Mars in concert.
