You could see it in their faces – even Lady Antebellum were dumbstruck by the fact that Adele was singing their song.
It was during the “CMT Artists of the Year” telecast in 2010, and Lady Antebellum was on hand as an honoree at the event for their groundbreaking year. Introduced by a baby-faced Luke Bryan, Adele took the stage alongside country music’s Darius Rucker in a performance of “Need You Know” which remains as one of the most magical moments upon a country stage.
“It’s no secret that Lady Antebellum has had an amazing year, and I’m honored to call them my dear, dear friends,” Bryan told the audience. “Not only have they been instrumental in my career by sharing my first number one song with me, but they have also in their own right gained millions and millions of fans. And among those fans are two incredibly talented artists. One – a two-time GRAMMY winner with an angelic voice – better known as Adele.”
Flash forward five years, and Adele remains one of the most influential artists of our time. Her current comeback courtesy of her new single “Hello” has had the music industry cheering, with the beauty looking set to post the best U.S. digital sales week for a song…ever.
