You have to hand it to country music fans. In most cases in recent years, they have tried their best to be open to different music styles and crossover artists looking to find a home within the country music genre.
But they may want to sit down for this piece of news.
In a new, impromptu interview with “TMZ” conducted outside of a Los Angeles airport on July 31, R&B/pop/hip-hop star Jason Derulo opened up about his plans to do a country album next. “I’m doing a country project,” he says. “I can’t state exactly what it is exactly yet. I’m excited about it, because I do love country music. I just won my first country music award, and I got the buzz, man. I got the buzz, so I’m doing a bigger project.”
Country fans will recall that Jason has already tested the country waters, and won a CMT Music Award for his effort. That happened earlier this year when “Want to Want Me,” his collaboration with Luke Bryan, was named CMT’s Performance of the Year. Jason also performed with Luke on the award show, delivering an appropriately stripped down version of “Strip It Down” that was much buzzed about in country music circles.
