As 2017 comes to a close, many people are taking time to reflect on the past 12 months, including Blake Shelton.

The 41-year-old country crooner, who has been dating Gwen Stefani since November 2015, knows full well that much of his year was spent with his girlfriend, as she has played a poignant role in some of his biggest moments.

Take for example, the time he found out that he won People Magazine’s 2017 “Sexiest Man Alive” title. Gwen was the one who convinced Blake to accept the prize.

“I feel responsible a little bit, because he called me. He’s like, ‘I’ve got to talk to you about something. They want me to do this, and I hate doing photo shoots. I’m not going to do it,’” Gwen said of Blake’s reaction to the news, while appearing on Jimmy Fallon in November. “Then, I was like, ‘Why would you not do it? Your record just came out. You’re going to look back and you’re going to regret it. C’mon just live in the moment.’”

And, sure enough, Blake listened to his love, and never looked back.

It seems as though Gwen’s story is just one example of how her and Blake’s relationship is built on trust and support. And, Blake can certainly agree on that sentiment.

In a new interview with People TV, Blake took a look back at where it all began for the two lovebirds, who now share two co-penned duets together, including “Go Ahead And Break My Heart,” which spawned out of their insecurities following their splits from their respective exes.

“When we found out what each other were going through, this instant bond that we created, unspoken, is still there,” Blake said. “We have like this unified front. What’s most important to Gwen is somebody who has her back, and is her best friend. That’s kind of how it started, and it just kept snowballing and snowballing into what it is now, and it just feels like it gets stronger all the time.”

As fans may recall, Blake and Gwen first met as coaches on NBC’s “The Voice.” After learning that they were going through simultaneous divorces (Gwen ended things with ex-husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, while Blake parted ways with ex-wife of four years, Miranda Lambert), they leaned on each other for emotional support. And, their beautiful friendship turned into something much more. We just love seeing their love story unfold!

Here’s to continued happiness in 2018 you two!
