When you’ve had a career as prolific as Blake Shelton’s, it has to be hard to come up with something new and exciting when it comes to making videos. But don’t discount the creative energy of Blake and his team, especially with a song as fun as “Doing It to Country Songs.”
Blake has been teasing us and teasing us on his Instagram page, so we had a pretty good idea of what his new video was going to look like. But when he released it on iTunes July 19, we were still tickled with the end result.
Blake and his “Doing It to Country Songs” collaborators, the Oak Ridge Boys, all take a part in the video, but they might be a little difficult to recognize since they’re all animated.
Our Oklahoma boy is featured as a dashing six-point buck wearing his signature button-up shirt and vest, and oh-so recognizable William Lee Golden is a wonderfully bearded possum in dark glasses. Handsome Duane Allen is a silky fox, while Joe Bonsall is a silver-haired beaver. And the guy with the low tones, Richard Sterban, well … he’s a bullfrog, but he’s got an awesome soul patch!
Together they are a band performing at Blake Shelton’s lakeside Bar & Stage, but watch closely. Throughout the video, Blake hides little touches of personality. The window of the bar is painted “Ole Red’s,” the clock over his head says “Paisley’s Light Beer” and his famous tattoo that bears deer tracks actually becomes human footprints on Blake Buck. There’s even a jar of sangria on the bar.
It’s funny, it’s clever and it suits the song perfectly. Well done, y’all!
