There’s no doubt that entertainers get a lot of great opportunities to perform all over the world for all kinds of great fans, but it would be really tough to beat the opportunity to sing for the leader of the free world, right?

The dinner and reception was held to welcome Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wife, Agnese Landini, so Gwen was an obvious choice for a guest entertainer with her Italian heritage. (Stefani, y’all – that’s Italian!)

And during her set, she brought her country superstar boyfriend, Blake, to sing their duet “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” What an honor for the Oklahoma country boy.

In keeping with the Italian theme, first lady Michele Obama donned a Versace gown, and guests dined on a menu that included pasta created by celebrity chef Mario Batali.

Earlier in the day, Gwen took her three children on an educational tour of the White House where the youngsters had the chance to meet the president, first lady, Prime Minister and his wife. From the looks on their faces, though, the kids were probably more excited to meet the first dog, Sunny.

Talk about field trips!
