Dan + Shay may be known as a country music duo, but they recently turned into a trio when they teamed up with an adorable 7-year-old girl.
The band, made up of members, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, headed into a recording studio inside the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to sing a duet with presidential trivia whiz Macey Hensley — a child who has often been featured on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Macey was in Music City with her mom, dad and grandmother as part of her web series, “Go RVing With Macey,” where she visits and tours different cities across the country to learn about the many historical sites.
“Since you’re here and you’re road tripping, you want to maybe record a little duet with us?” Dan asked Macey, as he began to help her put on a set of headphones.
Then the trio performed, “Road Trippin’” — the latest single from Dan + Shay’s album, “Obsessed.”
You could say that the country stars’ song provided the perfect theme to Macey’s mini-vacation, because she didn’t stop there. The energetic second grader also visited President Andrew Jackson’s home and the historic Grand Ole Opry before delivering an impromptu cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.”
As for Dan + Shay, they too have been out on the road. Their next scheduled concert dates include, Westport, Ireland, on Aug. 26 and Enniskillen, United Kingdom, on Aug. 27. From there, they’ll head back to the U.S. for a round of performances, including a few stops on Thomas Rhett’s Home Team Tour.
