For country music fans, getting out to one of Willie Nelson’s concerts is the thrill of a lifetime. In addition to seeing the man in braids and his trusty sidekick, Trigger the guitar, they’re getting to see the new wave of country traditionalists with Kacey Musgraves currently on the bill.

Guests at Willie’s recent show in Los Angeles got an even bigger bonus.

During the closing number, Willie invited Kacey to join him onstage for a rousing six-minute gospel medley that included “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” and “I’ll Fly Away,” and guess who joined them? It was singer, songwriter and fellow Highwayman Kris Kristofferson! And even Kacey looked a bit starstruck. Flawless and starstruck.

At one time, Kris spoke of retiring from performing, saying that both his voice and his memory were beginning to deteriorate, but that doesn’t seem to be happening too quickly. In fact, he released a new album, last year—“The Cedar Creek Sessions.”

Health issues have caused Willie to cancel a handful of shows, and a recent bout of altitude sickness forced him to cut his show in Salt Lake City short, but on stage, the legendary singer-songwriter seems to be doing just fine. In fact, he’s quite a healthy eater and has, in the past, been quite active in karate, earning his black belt at the age of 81.

We hear he takes herbal supplements.
