It’s the most heartbreaking loss imaginable, yet Craig Morgan and his family experienced it last year when Craig and Karen’s son, Jerry Greer, was involved in a tragic boating accident that took his life. And while no one would blame the family if they lost themselves in their grief on this anniversary of Jerry’s passing, the country singer-songwriter is, instead, celebrating his son.
In a post on his Instagram page, Craig writes that daughter reminded him that July 10 is also “someone’s birthday, someone’s anniversary, someone’s celebration for a new job, someone found out they were having a baby.” He adds, “but for me and my family, it’s the day we lost Jerry Michael.”

My daughter said it best July 10th .. It's someone's birthday, someone's anniversary, someone's celebration for a new job, someone found out they were having a baby, but for me and my family, it's the day we lost Jerry Michael. It's hard to put into words how sad I am, yet at the same time, I want to celebrate and praise my Heavenly Father for His perfect plan for our lives. Jerry lost his life on the lake, so today, I'll be in the water, wishing he was with me but knowing he's with my Savior! To God be all the glory.
Craig continues, “It’s hard to put into words how sad I am, yet at the same time, I want to celebrate and praise my heavenly Father for His perfect plan for our lives. Jerry lost his life on the lake, so today, I’ll be on the water wishing he was with me, but knowing he’s with my Savior! To God be all the glory.”
Craig and Karen’s son, Wyatt, also shared an Instagram post honoring his brother.
A new season of his Outdoor Channel show, “Craig Morgan All Access Outdoors,” kicked off at the end of June and the country star continued with his “American Stories Tour” in September.
