The horrific stories continue to pour out of Las Vegas in the aftermath of the tragic mass shooting that occurred at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, but the fear that faced country artist Dee Jay Silver and wife Jenna is incomprehensible.

While they were scrambling from the gunfire coming from Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, their baby boy, Wake, was in that exact hotel, very near the shooter.

Dee Jay had just been onstage prior to Jason Aldean’s performance. In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” he said the concert was like any other, and he did the same things he always does.

“I walked offstage like every day, took my in-ears [monitors] out, handed them to Evan, hugged him and said thank you, and walked offstage to find my wife,” Dee Jay said. When the rampage started, “We heard a pop, and I thought my ears were wrong,” he recalled. “Then, a few more and then, ‘Get down, get down.’ Long story short, we ended up on a tour bus and laying on the floor and I get a text, ‘What room is your kid in?’ I said, ’32-130.’ He said, ‘The shooter’s in 32-135, a couple hundred feet [away].’”

Obviously shaken, the artist best known for keeping the party going at country music festivals, and on tours for Jason and other stars, explained that Wake’s nanny, Mary, was with the baby, but since the hotel was locked down, they had no way to get to them and even if they could, they would have been running into the line of fire. “There were just no options,” he said. Up on the hotel’s 32nd floor, “SWAT walked in and kicked in the door and grabbed the baby, ran out,” he said.

“Vegas SWAT saved my kid’s life.”

After a nightmarish three hours, the little family was reunited.

Jenna shared a photo on her Instagram page of Wake and Mary after they were removed from Mandalay Bay and were headed to safety.

“I was emailed this photo and can’t stop looking at it,” she writes. “There she is. Our hero and angel, Mary, saving our 25 pound son and holding him for three hours after escaping the Mandalay Bay (as seen in the background). This picture gives me feelings that can’t be put into words. The whole time we could not get to him he was in her safe and secure arms, comfortable in his jammies and sleep sac blankey. Next to my son, one of my greatest life gifts is Mary for caring for him, being so brave and rescuing him from such a traumatic situation just mere steps away from pure evil.

“The fact that our sweet boy will never remember the horror that occurred so close to him in that hotel room that night is another one of our greatest gifts,” Jenna added.

The beautiful mom also said that while she and her family were safe and would take the time to heal, their thoughts were with those who weren’t so fortunate.

“To all grieving the loss of loved ones, know that our heart is with you and a day will never pass that you are not in our thoughts,” she wrote. “We know how precious it is to have received more time here on Earth with our son and, in honor of the those who lost their lives or were injured that night, we will NEVER take it for granted. It’s a time to reset and focus on a deep, genuine love for each other.”

But mentally, we are lucky enough to have been given the gift of life & time to heal when so many didn't receive that privilege. It's going to be a long road but we have an unbelievable support system and please know that all of your messages have been received. Thank you. – To all grieving the loss of loved ones, know that our heart is with you & a day will never pass that you are not in our thoughts. From here on out, we all must let love win. #VegasStrong
