Country music has a long history of loving sad, heartbreak songs. Some make you feel a little melancholy and raise a tear or two, and some are like a sucker punch to the gut that takes your breath away.
Prepare to lose your breath.
Hot newcomer Brett Young has just released the video for his new song, “Like I Loved You,” and it is absolutely haunting.
“Like I Loved You” is a modern take on the traditional “Dear John” letter, but instead of sending the letter, talented Brett is the recipient in the video. Mostly an imaging piece for the handsome rising country star, Brett travels through a dreamy, but dark setting solo. And while it’s hard to imagine who in the free world would dump such a handsome and seemingly kind hunk, he does a dang good job of acting the part of a broken man a he sits in a bar alone, sipping good brown liquor.
Brown liquor is serious business, y’all.
“Like I Loved You” is the followup single to Brett’s first two hits, “Sleep Without You” and “In Case You Didn’t Know.” In between fair and festival dates, the singer-songwriter is on the road with Lady Antebellum and Kelsea Ballerini on the “You Look Good Tour.”
