Scotty McCreery’s current single, “Five More Minutes,” has become a huge hit with fans and paved the way for the country star to finally give them some answers on when he’ll have a new album out.

“We’ve got most of the songs,” Scotty tells Rare Country of the new album’s progress. “Half of the songs are cut and half them need to be cut, but we’ve got the songs. I would imagine fourth quarter this year or first quarter next year we should have a new record. I’m pretty positive about that.”

Believe it or not, Scotty hasn’t released a full-length album since “See You Tonight” came out in 2013. He’s been steadily touring and staying in touch with his fans during that stretch, so the time just flew by for Scotty.

He says, “It blows my mind that it’s been that long since I put out an album. It’s nice to be back in the saddle and have new music people are seeming to enjoy and singing back to [me]. It’s fresh.”

Scotty goes on to say he started working on this album in 2015, but he’s been steadily writing and recording new songs since then. Most of the songs he started out with have been replaced, and the end result will be a better listening experience for his fans.

Says Scotty, “I’m in a new space, and we started writing all over again. I feel like we one-upped the record that we had ready in 2015. It’s exciting to see. We’re in a good spot creatively right now.”
