There’s no question 2017 will go down as a banner year for RaeLynn thanks to the success of her debut album, “Wild Horse.” The project hit No. 1 on the “Billboard” Top Country Albums chart when it was released, and ended up on several critics’ lists of the best country albums of the year.
Those accomplishments may not be her greatest achievements of the year, though. RaeLynn tells Rare Country she actually kept her New Year’s resolutions for 2017, too.
“Oh yeah, I’m a big resolution girl,” RaeLynn says. “This year, I did really great about reading my Bible a bit more. That was a good one. You have to.”
Keeping in touch with her spiritual side no doubt helped RaeLynn with her other resolution of being more thankful.
She explains, “I think it’s super-easy to get so consumed with yourself and what you don’t have that you lose sight of what you do have. It’s so funny, ’cause any time I get like, ‘Oh, why don’t I have that?’ or ‘Why isn’t that happening for me?’ Any time I think about what I do have and what God’s given me, everything completely turns around. I always just kind of look at my New Year’s resolutions and remember, ‘Always be thankful.'”
Keeping her marriage at the top of her priority list was also a resolution RaeLynn kept this year. That took some work since her husband, Josh, was away quite a bit for basic training after joining the military. Still, RaeLynn makes sure to put her marriage before her career.
She adds, “Sometimes you have to miss a few things. ‘Cause at the end of the day, when this all fades, the only thing that’s going to be left is me and my husband. I think it’s important to have those priorities.”
RaeLynn and Josh will be together this New Year’s Eve as she continues her “Rave Tour” with a Dec. 31 show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Rae thinks it’s a great way to end 2017 with a bang.
“I haven’t done a New Year’s Eve show in forever, but they’re so much fun,” she says. “Everyone’s so pumped. Everybody’s usually had a few drinks, and they’re ready to have a good time. We’re performing from, like, 10:45 to 11:45 [p.m.], so it’s gonna be a great show. An hour is super-fast, but I plan on just having a good time, and counting down and kissing my honey and doing the classic New Year’s Eve stuff.”
