RaeLynn just closed out an incredible 2017 that saw her release her debut album, “WildHorse,” to widespread acclaim. She performed two songs from that project, “God Made Girls” and “Lonely Call,” at our Rare Country Awards concert event earlier this month. Now, it’s time to chill out with her hubby, Josh Davis, who will be home from his military duty for a couple of weeks.
RaeLynn tells Rare Country, “We’re going to hang out in Nashville. My dad’s coming down for a few days. He’s coming to us for a few days. Josh’s family is from Georgia, so we’re going to go to Georgia, and then my mom is coming down for a couple days when we’re in Georgia so she can see us.”
Family get-togethers in the south always include a lot of good home cooking, so RaeLynn is taking a break from counting calories this holiday season.
“I plan on gaining five pounds and working it off after the new year and having a good time,” she says. “I’ve already been eating quiche. Don’t worry about it.”
As you can tell from all of their holiday Instagram posts, RaeLynn and Josh love hanging out with friends at Christmas parties. They’ve also developed a few traditions for themselves.
“One thing is we never open our presents on Christmas Day,” RaeLynn explains, “because we’re with family on Christmas Day, so we do our presents before we go with family. One thing we started is every year we’ll go pick out an ornament and put it on the tree, which is fun.”
Christmas music is also a constant at Josh and RaeLynn’s house this time of year, but Rae has to twist Josh’s arm to watch Christmas movies.
She says, “We’re actually the worst. We love watching scary movies. So, I always have to remind him, ‘It’s Christmastime. We cannot watch a scary movie tonight. We have to watch a Christmas movie. We have to watch “The Grinch” or “Home Alone.”‘ He goes, ‘Who cares? We can watch those any time of the year.’ He’s so funny.”
We know Josh and RaeLynn are going to have a wonderful Christmas! We also know they’ll be soaking up all the alone time they can since 2018 promises to be a busy year for both of them. Rae is playing a New Year’s Eve show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She’s also confirmed to join Sara Evans on the “CMT Next Women of Country Tour” starting Feb. 12 in New York City. Newcomer Kalie Shorr is also on the bill for that trek.
