Country newcomer Carly Pearce has pulled off something quite extraordinary with her debut hit, “Every Little Thing.” The understated ballad has become a smash hit at country radio, and that probably has something to do with the honesty Carly poured into the song’s lyrics about a really tough breakup.
“I lived it,” Carly tells Rare Country of “Every Little Thing.” “I lived loving somebody so much and watching them leave, and being so devastated that I really didn’t think I was going to be able to take another breath. I’m thankful that my album isn’t coming out until this time in my life that I’ve been able to live some things and really have a perspective that people hopefully — and I see through ‘Every Little Thing’ — are identifying with.”
The success of the song opened the door for Carly to record and release a full album, also titled “Every Little Thing.” Having that song take off with fans opened Carly up to take a few more chances with the other songs you’ll hear on the album, which is out now.
She says, “I think after ‘Every Little Thing,’ after we wrote it, and then after it came out and I saw the response to something that I felt like was too personal for people to relate to, it’s pushed me as I pitched songs and wrote songs for … the album, just to be as transparent about who I am, what makes me and what I’ve lived as I can be.”
