Thomas Rhett has three CMA Awards nominations going into Wednesday night’s show, and he thought it must be a mistake when he first got that good news from his manager.

“I was like, ‘Are you sure? Like, you might need to double check that,'” Thomas says. “Especially to be nominated for Male Vocalist, that’s a dream come true. I mean, just to be nominated is amazing, but to take that award home would be a huge cherry on top to a year that was already pretty incredible.”

It has been a huge year for Thomas and his wife, Lauren. They’ve welcomed one daughter, Willa Gray, via adoption from Africa, and another baby girl, Ada James, by birth a few months later. The couple love their babies, but they’re also looking forward to getting all dressed up for a big night out at the CMA Awards.

Thomas says, “I’m most looking forward to getting to see all my buddies because we’ve all been on tour all year. This is kind of like the last hurrah that we all get to be together at the same time. [I] just love getting to see all my artist buddies throughout the year that I never get to see and getting to walk the red carpet, getting to watch my wife look stunning.”

Look for Thomas to perform his latest No. 1 hit, “Unforgettable,” on the CMA Awards Wednesday night, Nov. 8, on ABC.
