You could feel the energy before the lights even came up on Luke Bryan’s performance at this year’s CMA Awards, which is ironic considering the country music superstar performed his current smash, “Light It Up.”

Matching the tone of this anthem of unrequited love, Luke was somber throughout his performance, even wearing head-to-toe black as he paced frenetically back and forth across the stage. And even that only further drove home the intensity of this thumping, angst-filled groove.

Let’s face it, though, if Luke’s performance hadn’t lit up the stage, his dazzling smile would have. And why wouldn’t he smile? He landed another nomination for the coveted Entertainer of the Year category at this year’s ceremony, a trophy that he had previously won in 2014 and 2015.

Another good reason for Luke to smile? Besides being the subject of an incredibly warm and revealing special on ABC on Nov. 6, he is releasing new music! His album, “What Country Looks Like,” will drop Dec. 8, just in time for Christmas.
