RARE COUNTRY AWARDS: Watch the recap of this year's award winners and live performances by Kane Brown, LANCO & RaeLynn

It’s been a heckuva year for Garth Brooks. And while it isn’t quite over yet since he just announced his final show for the year will take place in Nashville on Dec. 16, his performance on this year’s CMA Awards set a new standard for the country music superstar.

Now, Garth often jokes that he likes to dress in black because it’s “slimming,” but he was looking pretty svelte walking that red carpet before the CMAs. And when he stepped onstage to perform “Ask Me How I Know,” the head-to-toe black uniform that many of the country stars were adopting only added to the brooding moodiness of the song.

And honestly? He just looked handsome as heck!

His Entertainer of the Year nomination at this year’s CMA Awards might be considered icing on the cake, but it’s hard to top having a tour like he and wife Trisha Yearwood had this year. But if you asked Garth, he might say the best part of his year was seeing his daughter, Allie, get engaged onstage at one of his shows.
